I need help making my obstacle avoidance bot (Arduino). I definitely have the programming ability, and probably the electronic ability once I figure out what kind of motors I need, but I have zero knowledge when it comes to mechanics. The goal is to make a little rover that avoids obstacles.
I can definitely control stepper motors with Arduino Uno, as well as ultrasonic sensors. I'm currently learning how to use a servo motor. The programming is no problem, but I'm not sure about the assembly of the car itself. Idk if this falls out of the scope of this sub, but I figured you guys probably have plenty of experience with projects like this, and this sub has always been really helpful I basically figured I would turn the front axis with one motor to turn and revolve the back axis to drive the car forward or backward I realize that for a car to turn, the wheels need to be moving at the same speed, even though they travel different paths, and for that, you need some sort of differential. The issue is I don't know how to build one, and I'm trying to do this with the least amount of specialized parts as possible. My dad advised me that with a light enough load, the car could work without the differential, one wheel would just kind of skid. I thought about maybe trying to rip the guts out of an RC car, but I figure they're very optimized for space, and I might have a harder time than I anticipate converting it into a robot. I know they sell kits for this kind of thing, but I'm trying to engineer this thing from the ground up. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.
How should I power this bot I’m making? It’s running 2 6v DC motors, and an L298N board. The board takes 5v in for the IC and 5-35 V for motor output. Apparently the board has a voltage drop of 1.4-2 V. Currently using 5v for each with separate supplies (Arduino/power module)
Using 360 degree servos instead of motors in antweight bots (150g)
I'm new to bot building and would like to start by making my own antweight robot, I have been doing lots of research and forum searching and have seen that most people use gear motors with an esc for their robots. Recently I saw a guy on YouTube using continuous rotation servos as drive for their antweight robot which I thought was interesting as it removes the need for an esc. Does anyone have any experience with using a servo to drive their bot that can give me any advice on pros/cons of this method? Sidenote: By antweight I am talking about the UK 150g class.
Here's Version 2 of my motorized Lego combat robot! I'll probably call it either Colossus or Red Alert. Chain drive system is same as the first bot, and it now has a working vertical spinner. The weapon isn't the most powerful, but the wedge is really low and hinged. What do you guys think?
Time to buy a new one soon since the Brushed DC motors are starting to wear. I am wondering if any brand has switched to brushless DC motors yet for a longer life? currently have a shark ion and want to upgrade anyways or else I would just replace them.

Hello so recently I purchased two of these motors. With that said after trying to build a 1kg sumo robot with them I noticed the motors completely burned out after trying to push something roughly 1.2 kg. So I did some research on some better motors but I can't find anything that is not over $20. I want to go with 4 motors now on my bot but buying 4 motors for over $20 a piece is a bit steep. Any suggestions for motors that are not from china? I am on a deadline to get this done. Thanks!

Hey guys, so I’m a part of a first year battle bots team. I designed our drum weapon and it looks badass. Problem is though we’re scared that if it suddenly stops at high speeds it will truck up out motor. Would anyone suggest high quality motors to use?
9g motor bots sensing angle change and reacting at a certain angle
Is it possible to use same servo, to rotate 90deg ccw and to detect if it is pushed back to 0? Technically to be used both as a button and a servo motor
Between episodes 6 and 7, someone finally explained to Kenny that bot fires are much more likely to come from motors than batteries.
Unless there's something I don't know specific to the batteries used in battlebots. This had been irking me all season, glad he's talking with a little more science now. Is it sad that I was almost more excited about this than the fights?
Hey just ended up making a line follower bot !. Using •arduino uno • motor driver• ir sensor •great intrest and dedication 🤘.... new creative ideas of building stuff with arduino are welcomed!! 😀😀
